Board of Deacons
The Board of Deacons is composed of 12 ordained deacons who have been elected by the congregation. They meet monthly on the 2nd Monday at 7 p.m.
They are responsible for these ministries: Benevolence, Mission and Outreach, Congregational Care.

Massanutten Cares: An 'All hands on deck' Day of Service
Establishment of a Congregational Care financial resource: The Tabitha Fund
Introduction of a Lay Ministry Program to the congregation's ministry: Stephen Ministry
Several training and informational learning sessions
The Annual Christmas Joy gift program, through the Massanutten Food Pantry
Scholarships provided to the Massanutten Preschool
Participation in a Community Winter Shelter program called Harrisonburg Rockingham Thermal Shelter (HARTS)
Support of our Youth Ministries in the mission and outreach efforts
Service to Our Congregation
The deacons seek to serve the congregation in various ways. Some of these include:
Sunnyside Bus transportation coordinated for Sunnyside residents for Sunday services. (Driver Schedule)
Church Nursery: support Nursery Committee to provide a safe and caring environment for our children during Sunday services and special occasions.
Blood Drives occur three times a year.
Host two Lenten Lunches each year.
Care Packages sent to College and Military Personnel each year.
Service to the Community at Large
Food Pantry supports families in need twice a month (2nd Monday and 4th Thursday).
4 Cents a Meal on the 1st Sunday of each month to support the Food Pantry and local families in need.
Support of The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
MPC is a sponsoring church for Mercy House providing financial support and group meals on a quarterly basis. You can support Mercy House by donating items to their Thrift Store at 1005 High Street.
Support of Presbyterian Campus Ministries at James Madison University, Blue Ridge Community College and Bridgewater College.
Sponsoring church for Eastern Mennonite High School.
Support People Helping People.
Ongoing support of congregational and individual Mission Trips and opportunities at both a national and international level.
Support Disaster Response coordinated through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
Support Preschool Scholarships.
